How Rome does 31 October
There is no trick-or-treating to speak of and very little in the way of decoration outside the shops. What there is: bars and restaurants running a themed evening, students out in numbers, and a late night in the areas that already have one.
It falls in the middle of the low season, which means the city is otherwise quiet and a table is easy to get — if you book on the day itself rather than a week before.
Dinner, then the bar
The evening works best in that order. The kitchen runs until midnight and the cocktail bar carries on until one — two on a Friday or Saturday — so a dinner that starts at nine does not need to end when the plates go.
