Getting here and where we are
Where is ROSSO Restaurant and Grill located in Rome?
ROSSO is at Viale Aventino 32, 00153 Rome, in the Aventino / Circo Massimo district, directly opposite the FAO headquarters. It’s a 3-minute walk from the Circus Maximus, 5 from the Terme di Caracalla, 10 from the Rose Garden and 15 from the Colosseum, just below the Orange Garden.
What is the nearest metro station?
Circo Massimo station, on Metro Line B, a few minutes on foot. From Termini it’s a direct ride; from the Colosseum it’s one stop.
How far is ROSSO from the Colosseum and the main sights?
Circus Maximus 3 minutes on foot, Terme di Caracalla 5, Rose Garden 10, Colosseum 15. The whole walk runs through the archaeological area, and we’re one of the few full-service restaurants on that route.
Is there parking near the restaurant?
It depends on the time of day. In the evening it’s usually straightforward: with the offices closed, both paid blue-line spaces and free white-line spaces open up around Viale Aventino, and there are paid garages nearby. At lunchtime it’s harder, this is an office district, so the metro is the better choice: Circo Massimo, Line B, a few minutes away.
Can I walk to ROSSO from the Orange Garden or the Aventino Keyhole?
Yes, both are on the Aventino hill just above us, a short downhill walk. Sunset at the Orange Garden, then dinner here, is a natural sequence.

Kitchen, grill, menu
What kind of food do you serve?
ROSSO is a grill restaurant first: Fiorentina, ribeye, tagliata and fillet from selected Danish and Prussian beef, butchered at our open counter and cooked over lava stone. Alongside the grill you’ll find Roman classics, pizza in three doughs, burgers, fish and a full cocktail bar.
Is the menu available in English?
Yes. Every menu — breakfast, lunch, dinner and grill, pizza, aperitivo, wine list, drinks and desserts — is published in English and Italian on this site, with allergen codes on each dish.
Can I see the prices before I come?
Yes, all menus are published online with prices. Steak cuts are priced per 100 g and weighed before grilling, so the bill holds no surprises.
What is a Fiorentina, and how big is it?
A Fiorentina is a bone-in T-bone steak — sirloin on one side, fillet on the other — cooked over lava stone and traditionally served rare. Ours comes from selected Danish and Prussian beef at €10 per 100 g. Bone included, the cut starts at 800 g (around €80); 1.2 kg is the sweet spot for two, around €120, roughly €60 each. Every steak is weighed and confirmed before it goes on the fire. Dining alone? Ask for a ribeye, a tagliata or a fillet: same beef, single portion.
Is ROSSO good for proper Roman pasta?
Yes: carbonara with crisp guanciale, amatriciana and cacio e pepe sit alongside the grill. It’s one of the few places nearby where a table can have both a serious steak and a proper Roman first course.
Do you serve pizza? What kind of dough?
Yes, in three doughs: Tonda Romana, “Diversamente Napoletana” and Super Fina, with a 72-hour rise. Pizza has its own menu page on this site.
Do you have a cocktail bar?
Yes: 16 classic cocktails and 5 alcohol-free ones, served until 1:00 am, and 2:00 am on Friday and Saturday, after the kitchen has closed.
Do you have Italian wine by the glass?
Yes: 12 wines by the glass and 56 bottles on the list — whites, rosés, reds, sparkling and Champagne — all published online.
How much does dinner cost?
It depends on what you come for. A pizza dinner works out at around €25 per person; if the evening is built around the grill, it’s closer to €45. Every menu is published in full on this site with prices.
Is there a cover charge?
Yes, €2 per person. It’s printed on every menu, so you’ll see it before you order — no surprises at the end of the meal.
Dietary requirements
Are allergens listed on the menu?
Yes. Every dish carries the EU allergen codes, with a full legend at the bottom of each menu page, in both languages. Frozen and blast-chilled items are marked as required by EU regulation.
Do you have vegetarian and vegan options?
Yes: vegetarian and vegan dishes run right through the menu, not as a single token option: starters, pasta, pizza, salads and a veggie burger. All menus are published in full on this site. If you’re eating vegan, mention it when you book or tell the staff at the table: the kitchen will point you to what works and adapt where it can.
Do you have gluten-free options?
We have dishes prepared without gluten-containing ingredients, and the kitchen handles them separately, with dedicated care at every step. We want to be straight with you, though: ROSSO has a single kitchen, where bread, pasta and pizza are worked every day. We cannot rule out airborne flour or trace contamination, so we are not able to guarantee a dish suitable for coeliac disease. If you have a gluten intolerance or sensitivity, you’ll eat well here. If you are coeliac, tell us when you book: we’ll be honest with you about what we can and cannot do that evening.
Groups, events, business
Can ROSSO host a large group or a private event?
Yes. The venue is 400 sqm over five rooms and seats up to 200 people. One of the five rooms can be reserved for your group at no extra charge: you book seats, from €25 per person, with the usual range reaching about €70. The whole venue is a separate arrangement.
How late can a private party go on?
Events can run until 2:00 am. Music, DJ included, stops at midnight — worth knowing when you plan the running order.
Is ROSSO suitable for a business lunch or a working dinner?
Yes: we’re directly opposite the FAO headquarters and work as the natural off-site option for delegations and working meals. Lunch is served à la carte, so timing and prices are predictable, and the kitchen serves until midnight for late working dinners.
Do you offer catering outside the restaurant?
Yes, for private and corporate events, with a dedicated request page and a direct quote.
Do you have Wi-Fi and AV equipment for corporate events?
Wi-Fi: yes, throughout the venue. Projector, screen, microphones and sound system aren’t part of our in-house kit — we hire them in and handle it for you, so it goes into your quote and you receive one single invoice for the whole evening, equipment included. Tell us what your programme needs: a presentation, a speech, background music, a video. One thing worth knowing when you plan the running order: music, DJ included, stops at midnight, while the event itself can run until 2:00 am.
Practical information
Which payment methods do you accept?
All major Italian and international cards, American Express and Diners included, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Satispay. Contactless and mobile wallets work at the table. For business meals we issue a proper invoice on request — just let us know before we bring the bill.
Can we split the bill?
Yes, with no limits — we’ll split it however you need, across as many cards as you like. Just tell your server before we bring the bill.
Do you deliver or do takeaway?
Yes. Delivery through Deliveroo and JustEat, and takeaway can be ordered directly. Both also appear on our Google profile.
Is ROSSO family-friendly?
Yes, at every service. We have high chairs, a changing table in the restroom, and the kitchen does children’s portions on request. Pizza, burgers and the simpler pasta dishes work well for younger eaters, and the terrace gives families more room. Nothing needs booking in advance, but mentioning children when you reserve helps us seat you comfortably.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes. Small dogs are welcome inside, and medium and large dogs on the terrace — shaded tables right on Viale Aventino, which is where they tend to be happiest anyway. Let us know when you book and we’ll seat you accordingly.
Is the restaurant wheelchair accessible?
The restaurant is wheelchair accessible: you can get in and be seated without steps, in the dining rooms and on the terrace. We have to be straight about one thing: our restroom is not wheelchair accessible. We’re sorry — it’s a limit of the building, not a choice, and we’d rather you knew before you came than after. If it helps to talk it through before booking, call us on +39 342 189 9629.
