Eating around an event at the Circus Maximus is a timing problem, not a taste problem. Get the hour right and the evening works; get it wrong and you either rush your dinner or queue for a table with four thousand other people.

Before: the ninety-minute window
Sit down ninety minutes before the doors. Two courses fit comfortably in that time, and you arrive at the gates before the queues form rather than during.
What to order matters more than people think. You are about to spend three hours standing on packed earth. A bone-in steak for two is the wrong choice; a tagliata, a plate of pasta or a pizza is the right one. Save the long dinner for a night with nothing after it.
After: the four-minute problem
When an event at the Circus Maximus ends, everyone leaves within about four minutes of each other. Every place with a light on fills immediately, and by 11.30pm most kitchens in the area have already closed anyway.
We serve until 1am every day, and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, with the kitchen running to midnight and the bar afterwards. On event nights it is worth booking the after as well as the before.
Getting there, and getting away
- Metro B, Circo Massimo stop — four minutes on foot from us, and four stops from Termini.
- Parking is the weak point. On event nights the streets around the venue close progressively. Do not plan around a car.
- Walking beats taxis in the hour after an event. Nothing moves.
- The flat ground helps. Viale Aventino is level all the way to the entrance — no hill, no steps.

What kind of events fill this area
Summer concerts, the Teatro dell’Opera season in July, and the New Year’s Eve concert. The dates and the full 2026 calendar are in our concert guide, and the New Year version in this piece.
Outside event nights the same area is one of the quietest in central Rome — see the neighbourhood guide.
Where we are
Viale Aventino 32, two hundred metres from the main entrance, on the flat. Grill, pizzeria and cocktail bar in the same room, so a group that wants different things can sit together. Book online or call +39 342 189 9629.
Frequently asked questions
How far is the restaurant from the Circus Maximus?
Two hundred metres, three minutes on foot on level ground. The Circo Massimo stop on metro line B is four minutes away, and Termini is four stops from there.
How long before a concert should I book dinner?
Ninety minutes before the doors. That covers two courses without hurrying and gets you to the gates ahead of the crowd.
Is anything open after an event?
Not much, and what there is fills instantly. We serve until 1am, and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
What should I order before standing for three hours?
Something substantial but not heavy: a tagliata, pasta, or a pizza. An 800g T-bone for two is a bad idea before a concert.
Is parking easy on event nights?
No. It is the main problem in the area. Metro line B is the practical answer.
